Microsoft DreamSpark | an overview

Microsoft is giving developer tools to students around the world, in the hopes that they’ll develop a new wave of exciting Windows software. The DreamSpark program isn’t just for technology students; any college students around the world will be able to download copies of Visual Studio, XNA Game Studio 2.0, the Expression design tools, SQL Server  and Windows Server. In short, Microsoft’s DreamSpark is a new initiative intended to put the company’s development and design software into the hands of students at no cost.

Cost & Eligibility

Software provided through DreamSpark is available at no cost to  students. However, downloading software from the DreamSpark site requires a UT EID and a Microsoft Live ID. If you do not have a Live ID, you can sign up for one on the Windows Live ID site.

System Requirements

The system requirements for DreamSpark include a computer with a Windows operating system, a Web browser, and a high-speed Internet connection. Each software package available through DreamSpark has its own set of additional system requirements.
