Facebook recently changed the way that users search for their contents. More specific and categorized search can be done now with Facebook graph search. As the name suggest, graph search let users for searching their activities, contents as well as that of their friends. Yesterday when I saw “Enable graph search” tab on my timeline I was eager to experience new update. This happens to most of my friends’ timeline too. I tried to use all the search options provided and find just awesome. This is just wow condition for daily users who enjoy facebooking. It is a more robust search tool that’s being slowly rolled out to users. It uses the mountains of data the site collects to expand what a query on the site can find.
Look at my timeline after enabling Facebook Graph Search. A wider search box with all the notification icons, friend request icon, and message icon shifted to upper left corner. The way cover image looks seems different from earlier.
I am going to explore and show you what different can be done with this amazing update. So why do late, let’s begin the tour.
Search for peoples, places or things can be done using the graph search. It enables browsing the social network, letting you call up photos of your family in Nepal, restaurants your friends like in Kathmandu, or any public updates from Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal friends who like Chinese food, etc.
Below is the list of restaurants nearby me as suggested by it. And luckily Himalayan Java, my best restaurant has also been listed there.Facebook may also be using my interest information to filter search result. Take a glance at some of the search results i tried and imagine the searching possibility within social networking sites like Facebook.
I was willing to search about my college i.e. Prime College using graph search. Such an amazing result were found which i tried to visualize below.
At last, No doubt Graph Search have made our searching more effective and efficient, but it might also be the ultimate stalker search engine if gone in the wrong hands, which we need to be aware of.
